My 4th Amigurumi - Blue Elephant

This blue elephant was completed on 29 Jan 2009. I made this for Cheryl who's stopping over in Singapore on her way back to Shanghai after holidaying in Bangkok. Going to give it to her this Sunday on 1 Feb where we are going to have a Chinese New Year potluck.

My 3rd Amigurumi - Purple Teddy

This purple teddy was completed on 27 Jan 2009. It has been reserved by Jordan for her best friend, Valencia's birthday on 14 Feb. I chose purple because Valencia's personality and name bring to my mind the colour purple like lavender. Just love the colour!

Reuben's Birthday Present

For Reuben's birthday party held on 18 Jan 2009, I knitted a monkey for him since he's born in the Year of the Monkey. Made a nice, multi-coloured scarf for monkey.

My First Amigurumi is born! Green Bunny.

After taking 2 lessons on crochet, I attempted making my first amigurumi from the book Jordan bought for me from Shanghai. In this project, I needed to use the magic ring to start, use single crochet, increase and decrease stitches, chain stitches and slip stitches. Luckily, this bunny project came with step-by-step instructions. Completed it in a week (it was during snatch hours after kids have gone to bed and before my bedtime) on 16 Jan 2009 (friday). Showed it to my teacher and she proudly show to the class and praise me for being a very hardworking and clever student - being able to achieve it only with 2 lessons and within a week. So happy with myself - the joy of accompolishment!

Knitting and Crochet Books

Have been busy crocheting amigurumi toys. A slow progress because still trying to get used to crochet hook instead of knitting needles but having so much fun! Some of the books I found in the library- beautiful patterns and oh so cute stuff. Wait for my next post when my first amigurumi is ready.

Radiah's Birthday Bear

January 14 is Radiah, my Amore fitness instructor's birthday. Some of the exercise class gals surprised her with a banner and birthday cake after the aerobics class. I was also roped in, so decided to give her my beloved bear which was one of the first few bears I made using special yarn. It was a difficult bear to knit because of the yarn. I have turned down offers to buy the bear. Now I have bade farewell to it. Hope bear will find a much loved home.

Colourful Mouse

Knitted this pair of mice for my sister, Choy Fong as she is born in the Year of the Rat. Also, used it as part of display for our cookies and craft stall at Northvale condo's Chinese New Year bazaar on 11 Jan 2009 (Sunday).

Learning to Crochet

I just started my first crochet lesson on 2 Jan 2009 (Fri) at Lam Soon CC from 7.15 - 9.45pm. I'm so used to knitting that I find myself quite clumsy using one needle but teacher thinks I'm pretty good for a beginner. Didn't let on that I'm a seasoned knitter. Learnt chain, double crochet and treble. Also, learnt to read chart for crochet. Will bring along the Amigurumi book Jordan bought for me from her Suzhou trip for next lesson. Hope to be able to start on crochet toys and dolls soon. Yippee!!!

Jia Wei's Birthday Present

Jia Wei's birthday is only due on 18 Jan 2009 but decided to give him the knitted bunny earlier when we met up on a trip to Jusco Tebrau. He is born in the Year of the Rabbit, so hope present is apt for him.
