How it all started

I have always associated knitting with sweaters, scarves and images of grandmas on rocking chairs. It was by chance that I came across a knitting book on soft toys. They looked simply adorable on those pages. I set my heart on making them my own. So I bought the book there and then. Sadly, with demands of work and motherhood, it took a backseat. After the birth of my second child in 2002, I quit my job to become a full-time mother. It was then I decided to renew my love for knitting. The search for a teacher begins! All the knitting shops I approached turned down my request, they only teach making of knitted garment and using Japanese method. I was almost ready to give up when I saw Spotlight at Plaza Singapura offering knitting class. So my journey to knitting started. I have to contend with the basics of learning how to knit scarf, hat, booties and mittens. At home, I was busy trying out pattern for making a teddy bear. I was making 2-3 projects at a time and plaguing my teacher with so many questions. Her remarks, "You are attending a basic class but asking me questions meant for intermediate to advanced level." That was the pace I was going at, to learn the most at shortest possible time. Ha, my dream is finally coming true!
